About me

In my counselling I use an integrative approach, offering short or long-term therapy and different ways of working that suit the needs of each person I work with.  My approach is client-centred and informed by well-established therapies, drawing on humanistic and relational principles as well as neurobiology, attachment theory, mindfulness, Buddhist psychology and cognitive behaviour therapy.

I've worked as a counsellor for 6 years, in a busy multicultural university counselling service and with Cruse Bereavement, as well as in private practice. I am an experienced mindfulness practitioner and mindfulness teacher, teaching the Breathworks Mindfulness for Health/Stress Reduction program and Compassionate Mind Training as part of Leeds Mindfulness Co-operative. I have additional training in Compassionate Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and CBT.

In my earlier life I worked in academic research before moving into community education with Leeds City Council. I worked for a disabled people's organisation and for a local charity, then began teaching mindfulness before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

I am passionate about helping people learn about and safely manage their emotional landscape, grow as individuals and find meaning and self-worth. I believe in providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where healing and understanding can take root.
